Help 3rd Graders learn to play violin with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra!

In the 2012-2013 school year, the SPARK music program will expand to serve at least 210 students. The current 2nd graders (rising 3rd graders) will begin a program that partners with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. These professional musicians will come to SPARK, execute high-quality lessons to teach our class of 2022 to play the violin, and provide me, the music teacher, with additional professional development. With $2500, the SPARK music program can purchase about 12 violins. Please help us add string instruction to the music program!

With this year’s Annual Fund, 10 TEAM teachers will be sharing 10 individual projects to each raise $2,500 for their classrooms. About TEAM Schools

TEAM Charter Schools is a network of four KIPP schools in Newark, NJ: SPARK, TEAM, Rise and Newark Collegiate Academy. Our schools are free, open-enrollment, high-performing college-preparatory public schools preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life.

TEAM currently serves more than 1,500 students in grades K-2 and 5-12 and will grow to serve 5,000 students in K-12 in the next decade. We are committed to serving the students who need us: 88% of our students receive free or reduced meals, 98% of our students are African American and 2% of our students are Latino. Both our demographics and academic preparedness of our entering students mirror the district. This past year, over 90% of our high school students matriculated to college, and to date, 83% of all our students have gone to college.
